Thought we should establish a place for people to make suggestions about this process can be improved — both short-term suggestions which we might be able to implement now and also blue-sky ideas for the future. An example of the latter . . . with a 600 page text, a list of recent comments by reader isn't as useful as a list indicating conversation hot-spots, i.e. the pages that have the most activity. [hopefully that will be up and running in a day or so]. Don't hold back. We've a lot to learn.
In fact, I may have trouble keeping up with the comments and the text at the same time. It's different when one is reading with a bunch of people. Particularly when stopping to think about the comments interrupts the flow of the book.
I'm totally lost! Not exactly but going back and forth between these different voices in the text and on the blog is a lot of movement. and I am still not sure I like the two-tiered structure between the 7 women and us though I see why it's necessary to prevent chaos. Hmmm. Grad school all over again I guess. I tried to read the preface and gave up after 3 pages -- I'll try again later -- and just got into the novel which is probably where I'll spend most of my time. I love Lessing and read her for the first time in the 70s, I mean, she changed my life, so I am looking forward to this but we'll see.
Will the comments be able to be organised according to themes or topics rather than just page number or commenter? When the conversation really gets going it would be good to be able to see all comments on a particular topic.
I´ll also try to follow and comment. It´s a great chance to share my feeling that she Doris) lives my life thirty years earlier... Here I may read and discuss these similitudes. Or find who wants to do it.
