I love Lessing's descriptions of London. This page reminds me of parts of The 4-Gated City ... w Martha Quest's habit of walking for hours and hours in London. And of course it also reminds me of V. Woolf, her observations of people and shops as she walks through London (in her journals and in Mrs. Dalloway especially).
